Katy B in Ruskin Park: the singer remembers the misspent summer nights of her youth.
Why did you choose this spot?
I was born around the corner in King’s College Hospital, I used to go to the One O’Clock Club here when I was a toddler and this is where I learned to play tennis. As a teenager I’d sneak in with friends at night.
Are you body-conscious?
The first time I show my legs in the summer I’m a bit worried that they haven’t seen the light of day for six months. They always need a bit of maintenance.
How do you prepare your tan?
I never use fake tan. You only notice it when someone’s done a bad job, so what’s the point?
What do you like wearing in summer?
Denim shorts. I pack so many clothes when I go away but end up wearing shorts every day.
What do you order from an ice-cream van?
A Feast.
What do you cook at a barbecue?
Lamb steak, marinated jerk skewers with pineapple, baked bread and Greek salad.
What’s your song of the summer?
I like listening to old-school garage in the sunshine.
Are you going to any London events this summer?
I’m performing at Somerset House as part of the Summer Series and I’m carrying the Olympic torch this month. I’ve just been told I’ve got to do a ‘dad jog’ with it.
