Contemporary artist Robi Walters has a new position that's sure to excite car enthusiasts - Walters has been made Artist-in-Residence at luxury car brand Aston Martin for the next 12 months.
The London-based artist is set to create innovative works of art for the brand, which is going through a new phase with the introduction of its very first SUV, the Aston Martin DBX.
Walters is known for creating colorful abstract collages that use discarded objects. He is now set to apply this method using discarded Aston Martin car parts.
Walters will work closely with Aston Martin’s Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman to collaborate on special projects together.
“I have been a car lover ever since I was a child. For me, Aston Martin has always been iconic and the pinnacle of automotive design - they make beautiful cars, which are themselves incredible works of art and now after visiting the factory, and meeting some of the team, I am incredibly inspired by the spirit of Aston Martin," Walters said in a press release. "Making pieces of art from materials that don’t make it into the iconic sports cars will push me into new areas as an artist and I just can’t wait.”
Walters already has a whole slew of celebrity clients. Thandie Newton, Usain Bolt, Mary J Blige, and Sir Paul McCartney are all fans of his work.
Perhaps in the next James Bond movie, we can expect to see Daniel Craig racing around in a colorful, custom Aston Martin.
