London style hotspot: 5CC, 26 Farringdon Street, EC4

Enjoy a drink or two in Farringdon's secluded underground cocktail bar
Underground den: Sit back with oysters and a cocktail in this secret bar
17 June 2014

The look: Underground den. Tucked below Harrild & Sons, a print house turned public house, is this secluded underground drinking den with bare brickwork and wooden floors dotted with ceramic tiling. Bottles of spirits are locked in cages and mirrored tables, dim lighting and leather upholstery work together to create an air of secrecy.

Who’s behind it? Barworks – the brains behind Wenlock and Essex and Electric Showrooms.

What should I try? Rhubarb and ginger cooler cocktail accompanied by the oysters wrapped in smoked bacon, creamed leeks and crushed hazelnuts or lobster and chips.

Go there if: You want to sip a cocktail and feel like you’re in Fat Sam’s underground jaunt.

Light up: neon signs add warmth

Cheque out:

Expect to pay around £25 for oysters and a cocktail or £45 if you wish to try a cocktail from their vintage range.

How do I book? Call 020 3714 2497 or visit 5cc-london.com
