While BlackBerry’s launch of its new operating system, BB10, is finally killing off the keypad on its flagship phone, the Z10, we’re regressing — and finding the best five keyboard covers for our touch-screen tablets. Here are our favourites.

Brydge+

The most effective way to turn your iPad into a clamshell laptop. The aluminium keyboard also boosts the iPad speakers. £140 ($220), thebrydge.com

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover

It is actually pretty slim — measuring less than a centimetre thick. Your iPad clicks in magnetically. Comes in white, black or red. £89.95, store.apple.com/uk

Surface Type Cover

Only for the Microsoft Surface. This is better than its cousin, the flat Touch Cover, as it has depressible keys. £109.99, Microsoft.com/surface

Kensington KeyFolio Pro 2

Works as a stand and a case for your tablet and the keyboard can be removed if you wish. £65 ($99), Kensington.com

Zagg Folio

A little bulky but the leather version of this case with a prop-up stand is smart and hardy. £129.99, zagg.com
