48 hours after the wedding of the year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (now formally The Duke and Duchess of Sussex) have unveiled their official wedding portraits.

Kensington Palace released three images on Monday afternoon, which were taken after the carriage procession through the streets of Windsor from St George's Chapel to Windsor Castle.

Congregating in the Green Drawing Room, the couple beam as they pose with their 10 bridesmaids and page boys, including Princess Charlotte and Prince George, before sharing a more official portrait with Her Majesty The Queen and the rest of the royal family.

The images were taken by Alexi Lubomirski, who photographed the happy couple for a second time, the first being for their official engagement portraits.

In fact, a snap of the Duke and Duchess sitting on the steps of Windsor Castle holds a striking resemblance to their prior shoot with the photographer at Frogmore House.

Now a royally-approved photographer, we take a look at who Alexi Lubomirski is, and how he came to work with the royal couple.

He is a renowned A-list photographer

Alexi is a fashion and celebrity photographer, based in New York, who has shot the covers of pretty much every high fashion magazine, from Vogue to Elle and Harpers Bazaar. Capturing some of Hollywood's most famous faces including Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts (to name a few).

He's lived in Botswana

Born in England to a Peruvian/English Mother and Polish/French father he spent most of his childhood in England, before moving to Botswana with his mum and English stepfather.

We bet the photographer and royal couple have had many a conversation about the country in Southern Africa, as it also holds a special place in their heart, Meghan's engagement ring including a centre stone from the country.

He was mentored by another royally-approved photographer

It was Alexi's stepfather who first introduced him to photography during this childhood, but it wasn't until he went on a gap year to Peru that he really started to develop his skills that later led him to study a degree in fashion photography at the University of Brighton.

It was during his time at university that he was introduced the Mario Testino, who soon hired him as his assistant in Paris. Testino has also previously photographed the royals, taking the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's official engagement photos in 2010.

However, that's not Alex's only royal link as he is also a descendant of the Polish Royal Family, his full title being His Serene Highness Prince Alexi Lubomirski.

He is an activist

Although it is unknown how Harry and Meghan met Alexi, we are guessing his philanthropist work was also a key reason why he was chosen.

The photographer is an ambassador and activist for Concern Worldwide US, a charity which helps those living in extreme poverty achieve major improvements and offers ongoing support.

The charity also holds a touching link to Prince Harry, as his mum Princess Diana spent time with the staff of the charity during her visit to Angola in 1997.

And, much like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who asked for charitable donations on their wedding day instead of presents, on the photographer's birthday last year he asked his 197k followers to "donate whatever amount you would like to the charity", saying, "That was the best present ever".

Yep, we can definitely see why he was a perfect match for the pair.
