While experts suggest avoiding pouty selfies and leading with a compliment, eHarmony has a rather more specific piece of advice for unlucky singletons.

According to the dating site, people who list Richard Branson’s autobiography as an interest score 74 per cent more attention to their profile on their website.

‘Screw it, Let’s Do it’ reveals the lessons that have helped global entrepreneur, Sir Richard Branson, through his business and personal life.

But according to eHarmony, giving it a mention in your bio can boost the amount of interest from other female singletons.

The bizarrely amazing piece of advice comes from a new study by the dating website, which found that men who list ‘reading’ as an interest on their profiles received 19 per cent more messages than those that don’t.

Branson’s autobiography came out as the most attractive title for female daters, followed by The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson with 36 per cent, 1984 with 21 per cent and The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, five per cent.

But if you’re a Harry Potter fan, you may want to keep your love for Hogwarts hidden. Listing J K Rowling’s wizarding series in your bio means you’re lose an average 55 per cent of potential dates.

Other top writers including Stephen Fry, James Patterson and the late Terry Pratchett were also a turn-off for lovers.

Studies have shown that reading can improved empathy and enhance the ability to detect and understand other people’s emotions - so it’s no surprise that female daters look for this as an attractive quality in a potential partner.

As for why Branson’s title comes out on top, we can only imagine is down to the double entendre.
