It’s a fear we all share: turning up to a special occasion and finding someone else is wearing the same outfit.

But when six women showed up to a friend’s wedding wearing exactly the same dress, they had no choice but to embrace the coincidence.

The guests, who all wore the same £95 ($159.99 Australian dollar) dress could have been easily mistaken for bridesmaids when they were pictured all together with the bride at her wedding in Sydney.

The ladies had all bought an identical lace pencil dress from Australian brand Forever New for the occasion. Luckily, they saw the funny side of the accidental co-ordination.

Debbie Sperenza, one of the victims of the hilarious fashion faux pas, wrote on the fashion retailer’s Facebook page:

“You really should start a bridal registry so that your customers can enquire whether anyone else has purchased one of your dresses for the same event.”

“No we are NOT the bridesmaids just the guests.

“Think I deserve a gift voucher for all this advertisement,” Ms Speranza joked.

Two days later the photo of the six dressed up ladies had over 43,000 reactions.

One Facebook user who commented on the post described the situation as her “worst nightmare”.
