The course of true love never did run smooth, and no more so than in the advent of internet dating.

Even if you’ve managed to cuff a partner into a committed relationship, how do you know if your other half has fully closed the door on their single life and deleted their dating app profiles?

While it’s true that Tinder has made more than 10 billion matches since it launched in 2012, it’s also gotten a bad rep for kickstarting the demise of romance - after all, it’s pretty easy to keep promiscuously swiping without your other half being any wiser.

If you have the suspicion that your significant other is still active on Tinder, a new site called Swipe Buster allows people to see for themselves if they’ve recently browsed singletons on the app.

For a £5.40 fee, users can input into a search field the first name, age and location of anyone whom they want to check up on.

Swipe Buster then searches the depths of Tinder’s data to drag up users who fit the criteria, allowing you to see their photos, whether they are seeking out men or women and most importantly - when they last swiped on the app.

According to the site, all of the information Swipe Buster accesses from Tinder is in the public domain.

However, some users have complained that the site only appears to work in some cases, meaning that cheating partners could slip through the net.

Swipe Buster’s devs say that their tech wasn't designed for snooping partners, but to point out the privacy issues associated with sharing your details online.

According the them, they accessed the data in the same way as other third-party apps such as Tinderly and Bonfire for Tinder.

A spokesman from Tinder, which launched in 2012 and is owned by Match Group, told The Telegraph: "Searchable information on Swipe Buster is public information that Tinder users have on their profiles. No private user information is being made public. If you want to see who's on Tinder we recommend saving your money and downloading the app for free."
