The breakover that’s been the making of Robert Pattinson

Jasmine Gardner17 August 2012

Let’s be frank. Kristen Stewart has done Robert Pattinson a favour. Formerly good for nothing but a teenage girl’s wall poster (his over-amplified swept-up hairstyle the only thing that made him stand out from behind Stewart’s superior talent) now, suddenly, heartbreak is on his side.

He may have been studiously (and awkwardly) avoiding questions about his personal life during interviews on The Daily Show and Good Morning America but for a hint on how things are going for R-Patz right now, you only need to look at him.

Where previously there were open shirts over V-neck T-shirts, crumpled jeans and untamed bum fluff on his chin, now there are neatly cut Gucci suits and perfectly sculpted stubble.

Perhaps out of a need to rival the older, more sophisticated director Rupert Sanders (the man at the centre of Stewart’s transgression), Pattinson looks as if he has matured by five years, and it’s working for him like whisky.
