Reverend Michael Curry has become the unexpected star of today's wedding between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The revered was described by the Archbishop of Canterbury as a "stunning preacher" and delivered a rousing address during today's nuptials.

Twitter users were fast to react to the priest's speech with one user posting a picture of Harry's cousin Zara Tindall with the caption, "the priest has her shook".

The priest quoted Martin Luther King during his royal wedding address and spoke about the power of love.

So who is Michael Curry?

Born in Chicago in 1953, Curry grew up in Buffalo in the state of New York in America. The 65-year-old was ordained as a deacon in June, 1978 and then a priest just six months later.

He held posts in Ohio and North Carolina before becoming the 11th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina in 2000.

Curry became the first black presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church in 2015.
