This two-week-old Soho House spin-off at The Hoxton, Holborn, brings Brooklyn-style breakfasts to midtown, complete with trendy retro metal lampshades and hand-painted floorboards. Go for the full American with Eggs Benny — good, old-fashioned eggs Benedict — (£7), sourdough pancakes with brown butter and pineapple (£7), or even sirloin steak and eggs (£14). Then neck an espresso shot from the bespoke La Marzocco machine to start your day with a buzz (£2.50).

Granger & Co

‘Egg master’ is not a title The New York Times bestows lightly, and Bill Granger’s skill with an omelette is no yolk (sorry). Drop in to his new digs in Clerkenwell for a full Aussie breakfast (scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, bacon, chipolatas and miso chestnut mushrooms, £13.80) or ricotta hotcakes (£11.50), with a glass of Bill’s raw juice (almond milk, cacao, banana and honey, £4.80) to make your g’day an extra good ’un.

Peter Gordon’s fusion food is the perfect fuel to get the neutrinos firing. Super-charge your breakfast with spiced banana French toast (£10) or a renowned Kopapa fry-up if you’re really ravenous (streaky Suffolk bacon with sautéed buttered field mushrooms, £10.50). Jazzy tiling and designer furnishings make it the perfect setting to mix business with pleasure, so bring a briefcase but lose the sensible tie.

Get your Saturday on track with a pancake stack and syrup (£6) just a short stagger from King’s Cross; the weekend-only brunch menu offers such temptations as seeded scones with Vegemite whipped butter, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs (£11.50). French gastronome Bruno Loubet works magic on wholesome veggies, but the cocktails are a real treat, too, so get the weekend party started with a Brunch Mary (a Bloody Mary made with horseradish vodka, £8.50).

The Riding House Café

A hotspot for late-night party cowboys getting back in the saddle with the aid of a restorative Orkney bacon sarnie (£7.50). Pull up a barstool and wolf down a plate of chorizo hash browns (£9.50) with a Champagne Breakfast cocktail (Grand Marnier, marmalade and champagne, £10). For a gentler ride, buttermilk pancakes with berries (£7) and an ABC Ginger juice (apple, beetroot, carrot and ginger, £4.20) will set you up nicely.
