Brand of the week

Iro. A very cool French brand that has a store in New York at 450 Broome Street. It's aesthetic, clean and minimal and has a similar vibe to that of one of my favourite brands, Sandro. There are no logos or graphics; the emphasis is on material and fit. I was particularly drawn to their T-shirts and jeans. As with most stores in NYC at the moment, they have an amazing sale on, with most items at 50% off their original price. I bought a really cool oversized linen off-white tee, which you can see below.

Product of the week

Since I have been in New York City, my taste in drinks has altered to match the massive demand here for Tequila. Back home, I would only associate Tequila with shots, whereas out here they drink it on the rocks as a long drink. At first, I wasn't too sure about it but since trying Don Julio, on the rocks, with some freshly squeezed lime, I have changed my mind and now find it my drink of choice. Aside from the smooth taste, you drink it slower and it makes you an energetic, fun drunk. My favourite is the Tequila Don Julio Reposado, which is barrel aged for eight months in American white-oak barrels, is golden amber in colour and offers a rich, smooth finish.

Event of the week

This week I went to the opening of a new club in New York called Haus at 285 West Broadway, where my good friend Chelsea Leyland was DJing. Haus is an opulent new Tribeca cornerstone of serious dancing, at the corner of Canal and West Broadway. It used to be Canal Room - home to celebrity banquette revelry and phenomenal '90s cover bands. Now it's this: a wide-open mix of tiger's-eye bars and DJs, who only care about spinning the precise BPM your dance moves require. The music was house, which at 8pm when it was light outside, felt a bit out of place, but none the less everyone got involved with the drinks, and the daylight didn't stop them from embracing the deep house and moving those feet. I didn't stay long, but the venue was packed, and everyone enjoyed the food, and drink and loved Chelsea's tunes.

Discovery of the week

A friend of mine, Jena Goldgak, took me to this epic place called Luke's Lobster (East Village 93 East 7th Street). If you're a fan of lobster rolls, I highly recommend paying this little gem a visit. From the outside it is nothing to write home about, but once you taste one of these puppies, you will find yourself going back for more. Luke Holden set up this chain when he moved to New York from his hometown Maine, from where he gets 100% of his lobsters. He and his dad, Jeff, turned to their long-lasting relationship with the lobstermen to cut out the middle man and get that sweet lobster down to the city, where they could serve it the way it was meant to be: pure, in a griddled New England split-top bun, with no filler. Below you can see me with Luke himself.

Song of the week

Lizzo feat. Sophia Eris - Batches & Cookies

Magic moment

Seeing up and coming female rapper from Houston Texas Lizzo at the Bowery Electric. The venue is infamous and just so happens to be right across from my apartment in New York City. Lizzo did not disappoint. She has some seriously catchy tunes and her energy on stage is out of this world. She even flew over to the UK afterwards to perform at Glastonbury.
