Kia has designed the next-generation Sportage at its Frankfurt centre and has now released official sketches of what it will look like.

The actual vehicle will be revealed in September at the Frankfurt motor show but the sketches indicate that the KX3 concept of 2013 has been drawn on.

Inside the design is cleaner, with a large infotainment screen and fewer buttons

There is a large Tiger Nose grille and a heavily reworked rear while inside the design is cleaner, with a large infotainment screen and fewer buttons. There is a marked shift to be more upmarket.

In fact Kia say that the Sportage will gain the highest-quality interior it has made for any vehicle. This is in a move to combat rivals such as the Nissan Qashqai and Honda’s CR-V.

As yet no engines have been confirmed although we’re expecting more refined versions of the 1.6-litre petrol unit, as well as the 1.7 and 2.0-litre diesel engines.

The launch date is planned for early next year.
