Last week’s warm spell tricked us into thinking spring was here — and allowed me to test the versatility of Halvarssons’ superb “Prime” jacket, supplied by Guildford specialists Motolegends.
It’s cosseted me superbly through winter cold and rain storms but as the rays appeared I removed the high-rise insulating collar and efficient lining to let the air through. Temperatures range from -52.6 to +38 degrees C in Sweden, so Halvarssons claims to know all about technically brilliant motorcycle clothing that works throughout the seasons — and my test suggests they’re right.
Venting and fit are big pluses on this well-designed, good-looking but functional jacket, making it a good choice for touring — or city work.
The Prime is a jacket you can rely on day in, day out — just as well, at £459. So far it’s proved comfy, entirely waterproof and highly wearable thanks to its infinite adjustability, great venting, lots of pockets and removable hi-viz bib. My only dislikes are the fasteners, that splay the cuffs, making it tricky to slide a glove over the sleeves (some, of course, prefer wearing gloves inside the sleeve; problem solved).
To date — together with matching £299 Prince trousers — it’s proved an excellent year-round riding solution. More at motolegends.com
