Mazda Koeru concept for Frankfurt

Five-door crossover concept to be unveiled
“Koeru” means to “go beyond”

The name “Koeru” means to “go beyond”, and that’s exactly what the Japanese manufacturer intends to do with its new crossover. Due to be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in September, the concept vehicle has far more swept back lines than many crossovers, including Mazda’s own CX-3 and CX-5, and looks more like the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

It is expected to also fit in seven seats, making it a likely competitor to the Discovery Sport or Kia Sorento.

The power will come from Mazda’s SkyActiv range of engines, with the 2.2-litre turbodiesel found in the CX-5 the most likely powerplant.

Mazda describes the mid-sized five-door Koeru as “making a bold statement in an increasingly popular and competitive segment.”
