It’s facelift time for Peugeot’s smallest crossover.
Set to be revealed at next month’s Geneva show is a new-look 2008 with refreshed styling inside and out. This gets a slightly more butch image than the current version, with more pronounced wheelarch extensions complementing a revised front end.
The 2008 also gets a new six-speed automatic gearbox. This is added to the manual boxes already available.
Engine choices remain unchanged, with 1.2 petrol and 1.6 diesel units both available in three states of tune.
Inside, cargo handling options are enhanced to allow a new luggage limit of 1400 litres – that’s 206 up on before. Up front, multimedia options are brought up to date to include the latest smartphone connectivity, and the driver assist functions on offer now include autonomous city braking and self-parking.
The trio of existing trim levels grows to include a fourth, called GT Line. This joins at the top of the range, adding details like bigger alloys and black trim highlights.
The new model will mean you can spend more on a 2008 than ever before, especially if you specify it with the auto box. But the rest of the range is unlikely to move much in terms of price.
That’ll be confirmed when Peugeot makes the car official at Geneva, anyway.
And having taken its bow at the start of March, the new-look 2008 will be in the showrooms by the middle of the year.
