Which uber-sports coupé is the best drive on British roads?

It's the Audi R8 V10 Plus up against the Porsche 911 Turbo S and McLaren 570GT

How annoying is it to have £150,000 burning a hole in your pocket and not know which sports car to blow it on? There are just so many fantastic choices out there. Should you plump for all-wheel drive or rear-wheel-drive? A turbocharged motor or a naturally-aspirated one? A thundering V8, a screaming V10, or a howling flat six?

Well, most of us will never have this sort of ‘problem’, but if that big (or even not so big) Lottery win comes through, it’s best to be prepared.

As a service to you, and not at all because he might enjoy it, our Matt took a £136,000 Audi R8 V10 Plus, a £147,000 Porsche 911 Turbo S and a £154,000 McLaren 570GT (all prices before options, of course) to the excellent driving roads of northern Wales.

All three are packing comfortably more than 550bhp. All three will dismiss the 0-62mph dash in less than 3.5 seconds. But driving pleasure isn't just about the numbers. It’s also about a sesne of theatre, and getting that special feeling behind the wheel on ordinary roads rather than just in the esoteric environment of a race track.

Can the Porsche's user-friendly but massively quick 911 Turbo S trump Audi’s ‘engine on wheels’ R8 V10? And where does the Macca 570GT fit into the picture? Here’s your chance to step into the passenger seat of all three.
