The Crush: James Middleton

Sugar and spice and all things nice
Lotte Jeffs28 February 2014

We’ve always thought of him as sweet and a bit fluffy, but now James Middleton has gone all-out Baked Alaska as he puts some oomph back into his soggy-bottomed cake business (it’s still not making a profit) with mail-order marshmallows.

This alone would have been enough to pique our anti anti-sugar interest and yet, J Middles goes further, taking a permanent marker to Crush’s ‘Things We Like’ list, by first printing Instagram photos on to said marshmallows (#clever) and then cultivating some serious facial hair (#hot). Let’s pause a while to reflect on James’ new beard. Things appear to be going swimmingly with Donna Air, much to our disappointment. He looks so macho, so rugged, so not like a man who would ever dress in drag to attend a ‘wild house party’, or indeed one who bakes cakes for a living.

In fact, we are as smitten as we were when he boomed his way through Romans 12: 1-2 & 9-18 on big sis’ big day. Crush wishes his new Insta-marshmallow venture ‘boomf’ well, and is frankly desperate for a piece of it. Marrying a Middleton is the closest to royalty we are likely to get and we play dirty… Hey, Pippa, how about a picnic!
