The Royal Drawing School has garnered quite the reputation for nurturing the most talented artists in the region.

This exhibition will showcase drawings by students on their postgraduate programme ‘The Drawing Year’, which offers a year of intensive study, research and practice in drawing from life, with high-quality teaching from a distinguished faculty. The programme is inclusive by nature as every student is given a full scholarship and free studio space which enables artists of all backgrounds to explore their artistic potential and pursue a career in the creative realm.

This is especially poignant in a time where tuition fees are rocketing and the cost of living in London is increasingly expensive.

Past graduates of the The Drawing Year have exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, their work is included in major collections in world-renowned galleries such as Tate, the V&A Museum, British Museum and the Royal Collection. Exhibiting artists include Lee Cutter who presents his ink drawings of Japanese gardens and Christabel MacGreevy who is best known for her fashion brand Itchy Scratchy Patchy, amongst many others.

Dealers and auction houses notoriously cite drawings as the best way to start an art collection regardless of the size of your wallet. All drawings exhibited will be up for sale; you can pick up small prints or large-scale drawing for as little as £150. The commission goes towards funding the School’s scholarship and bursary programmes to enable more artists to follow their passion, unrestrained by their financial background.

This free exhibition, running from November 10-15, offers the ultimate opportunity to snap up some treasures at the world’s leading art auctioneers Christie’s.
