Airbnb offering people the chance to stay in Dracula's Castle in Transylvania for Halloween

Holiday renting firm is offering the brave a stay in the Transylvanian landmark – and they sleep in a coffin

Forget dressing up in your best Donald Trump costume - the truly brave can test their mettle by sleeping in Dracula's Castle on Halloween.

Bran Castle, which provided the inspiration for the setting of Bram Stoker's 19th century Gothic horror novel, is up for grabs on Airbnb for one night only.

That night is the spooky October 31 and will be spent sleeping in a coffin.

Two lucky winners of the competition - or unlucky, depending on how you see it - will be whisked off the mist-shrouded Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania to relive the story of Dracula's protagonist Jonathan Harker.

Fancy sleeping in a velvet-lined coffin?

A horse-drawn carriage will transport you through the wolf and bat-strewn landscape, reaching the legendary 14th century castle just before sunset - when vampires are feted to venture out to feed.

You'll be met by Dacre Stoker, the great-nephew of the author himself and a renowmed vampire expert.

Stoker will regale you with stories of old and age-old secrets, which will make any campfire ghost story pale into significance.

Led down dark, gloomy corridors, up creaky staircases and through secret passageways, you'll emerge in the grand dining room, where you'll be served a blood-rich steak - just how it was prepared in Stoker's famous novel.

And your bed for the night? A velvet-trimmed coffin, of course, which will be set up in the Count's crypt.

The grand dining room

This Halloween break isn't for the faint-hearted - you'll be completely alone in the castle overnight and garlic and holy symbols are strictly forbidden.

If you survive the night, breakfast is served on the castle terrace at sunrise.
