Cool place of the week: The Townhouse Stratford, Stratford Upon Avon

A boutique hotel with a buzzy pub and restaurant
Martin Dunford26 April 2017

It was Shakespeare’s birthday recently, and this small boutique hotel, right in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon, would have been a perfect place to celebrate it.

And not just for its location, which is walking distance form just about everything in the town you might want to see, but also for its twelve very comfortable en-suite bedrooms, all of which which have recently been refurbished in a highly contemporary style.

Not only that, the buzzy pub and restaurant downstairs give it a busy, urban feel.

The rooms are super-comfy and extremely well-equipped, with super-king-sized beds, crisp cotton sheets and deliciously fluffy duvets, Nespresso machines and fresh milk, mineral water, biscuits and – a nice touch – a small decanter of port.

Bathrooms have high-pressure rainfall showers and Noble Isle toiletries and some also have freestanding baths. The rooms also have TV/DVD players, free Wifi and iPod docking stations, plus there's a small DVD library in reception.

All in all it's both a cosy and contemporary place to stay in a great location – perfect for a both a long weekend break in Stratford, or just an overnight DB&B on a theatre-going trip.
