You can now fly direct from London to Bali for the first time

Excellent news for digital nomads and wellness seekers

Next week Indonesian national airline Garuda will launch the first direct flight from London Heathrow to the Indonesian island of Bali.

Until now, UK travellers have had to connect in Singapore or Jakarta to get to Ngurah Rai International Airport, in Denpasar, Bali.

The inaugural flight will take off on January 22, and will depart every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of each week at 9.55pm.

However, there's a bit of a catch. There's no direct route on the return leg, so Brits will have to fly to Jakarta first - even so it'll still get you to your holiday destination sooner.

The 7,760-mile flight will take 15 hours and 35 minutes. Prices start from £528 for the one-way, non-stop flight (including taxes and fees), according to the carrier's website, meanwhile the same flight on Skyscanner is currently showing up as £478.

There are plenty of reasons to visit the magical island of Bali. Home to incredible beaches, ancient temples, abundant tropical jungle and plentiful yoga retreats - it's no wonder it has also become the destination of choice for digital nomads and wellness seekers.

It's cheap, too, and the pound is strong against the Indonesian Rupiah, meaning you can stay in five-star resorts for as little as £45 per night.
