Yes, a selfie museum has officially swung open its doors.

Based in Los Angeles (obviously), the new pop-up museum is an interactive gallery that will allow people to learn about the history of the selfie (it’s longer than you think) and snap some of the coolest ones going.

Admittedly not the first niche exhibition to open in LA - they’ve previously had the Museum of Failure, Happy Place, Candytopia and the Museum of Ice Cream - something tells us this will be the most popular though.

Here’s what you need to know...

Selfie Opportunities

There will be a range of sets to take cool selfies in from the "high-up selfie" a vertigo-inducing, rooftop selfie mimicking the top of a skyscraper where visitors can climb on top, to the "bathroom selfie" which is a two-sided room that lacks self-reflection but is excellent for trick photography.

Exhibits

The exhibitions will include the "food selfie," a super-sized exhibit that satisfies taste buds and foodie fanatics, and a "narcissist" exhibit examining the number of deaths from selfie-related accidents. Yikes.

Museum of Selfies

Record breaking

There will be a record-breaking selfie stick measuring 90-feet, extending through the entire museum.

Museum of Selfies

Insta-famous

Works from famous selfie artists will be on show including David J. Slater, the photographer behind the viral "monkey selfie", and Riccardo Scalise, dubbed "Mr. Selfie," who has taken selfies with some of the most recognisable and powerful people in the world

Clever twists

The museum will also feature clever twists on world famous works of art like the Mona Lisa and works of Van Gogh.
