Sin city turns Japanese

Destination: USA
Nobu Hotel Las Vegas
3 September 2012

Las Vegas is to get a touch of zen with the opening of the world’s first Nobu Hotel late this autumn (taking bookings from October 1).

The boutique-style hotel, restaurant and lounge will be set at the base of the existing Centurion Tower of Caesars Palace Resort.

The joint venture between celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa, investing film star Robert De Niro and Caesars Palace aims for a “less is more” ethos, with David Rockwell (behind Vong, numerous Planet Hollywoods, a bevy of Nobus) designing the 181-room,

18-suite, one penthouse hotel. Japanese-inspired interiors will include carpets and wall coverings, while cherry blossoms and Japanese Zen gardens combine with technology such as in-room iPad registration.

Adjoining the hotel will be the 327-seat Nobu Restaurant — in true Vegas style, the largest worldwide — with teppanyaki tables, a sushi bar and private-dining area along with a large lounge. Roll with it.

Doubles from $300 room only, caesarspalace.com/nobu. British Airways launches new flights from Gatwick to Las Vegas on October 29, returns from £720.86, ba.com
