This floating hotel room lets you spend a night bobbing through the sea

This hotel room could soon become a reality

If Robinson Crusoe holidays are your type of thing, you’ll want to know about a new hotel concept that’s about to take Japan by storm.

Huis Ten Bosch, a theme park on the edge of Nagasaki, is planning to launch a fleet of pod-like, capsule hotel rooms that float in the water, so guests can wake up at a new destination each morning.

The theme park is part of a 39,000 square metre uninhabited island, so the bubble-shaped sea taxis can ferry their passengers around its unspoilt coast through the night while they snooze peacefully.

The nifty sea transport works by using GPS, so you wouldn’t have to worry about steering yourself to dry land while half-asleep.

The rooms themselves have a compact bathroom downstairs, and a cosy living space up above to curl up in.

Just imagine nodding off to the gentle bobbing of the ocean waves, and waking up the next day at a remote patch of a Japanese island.

The split-level bubbles can sleep up to four people and will cost from £200 per night. Luckily for people who like a room with a view, there are also lofty windows so you can gaze out to sea on your journey.

Sound like a dream holiday to you? The theme park says it is hoping to start work on the floating hotel rooms by the end of the year.
