This Friday, thousands of people across the UK will be donning their favourite hat in support of Brain Tumour Research.

Since launching in 2010, Wear a Hat Day has raised over £1 million for the charity, which works to find a cure for brain tumours.

“Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet, historically, just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease,” said Robin Meltzer, Director of Fundraising at Brain Tumour Research.

He added: “The direct cause of brain tumours is not yet clear so more research is urgently needed.”

Now entering its tenth year, Wear a Hat Day is the UK’s biggest brain tumour fundraising event.

Here’s everything you need to know about Wear a Hat Day, plus how you can get involved:

“Wearing a hat is not only fashionable, stylish and fun, but it also draws attention to the head and brain tumours, a devastating and at times ‘invisible disease,’” explained Mr Meltzer.

“Wearing a hat or one of our specially designed hat-themed badges on Wear a Hat Day is a sign of support for Brain Tumour Research, our mission and all those living, or lost to, a brain tumour.”
