Why beards are still on fleek in 2016

Even Jeremy Corbyn knows it...

The facial hair frenzy has been rife for a couple of years now. While most other hipster trends seem to have a shorter shelf life, beards still appear to be growing, both literally and figuratively. In 2016, beards will be at the forefront of technology, dating and even politics, and we’re all just going to have to take it on the chin.

2016 sees the first of edition of the “Bearded Men in Silky Kimonos” calendar, featuring a hairy hunk for every month. The models pose in whimsical settings with anything from roses and condiments to afternoon tea and boiled eggs, looking brilliantly aloof. The creators call themselves Kalendah - no surprise there - and their mission is to “bring Bearded Men in Silky Kimonos to your walls.”

The logical step up from a bearded man stuck to your wall is a bearded man sprawled out on your bed, is it not? And in 2016, there’s an app for that. The recently launched Bristlr brings together those who want to stroke a beard with those who want their beard to be stroked.

If all of that wasn’t convincing enough, fashion icon of our time Jeremy Corbyn is on board the bearded bandwagon. He is the first leader of a major political party in Britain to sport a full beard since Keir Hardie in 1908.

So there you have it, if you thought whiskers were winding down, they aren’t. It'll be kimonos next.
