Chrissie Hynde joins foie gras boycott

13 May 2013

Pretenders singer Chrissie Hynde has joined other celebrities in boycotting Fortnum & Mason because it sells foie gras.

Hynde, 61, left, told chief executive Ewan Venters that she will avoid the Piccadilly store “like the plague” until it stops selling it.

She wrote in a letter: “Heaven knows I am not averse to sampling the finer things in life, but there is nothing fine about this product, which is made from the diseased livers of force-fed geese.”

Sir Roger Moore and Zac Goldsmith MP have supported animal welfare charity Peta’s calls for a ban on the sale of foie gras.
