"I'd like to think it will maybe cheer a couple of people up”

Harry Styles has finally released the hotly anticipated music video for his latest single ‘Golden’.

The follow-up to smash-hit ‘Watermelon Sugar’ was released on Monday after days of teasers.

Featuring the tousle-haired heartthrob running in an unbuttoned white shirt and showing off his tattooed torso in crystal-clear Italian waters, it is bound to set pulses racing.

Speaking ahead of the latest release from his platinum-selling album Fine Lines, Styles said: "It's one of the first songs when I was making the album and it's always been a source of joy for me. And I wanted to make a video that encapsulated that.

"I'd like to think it will maybe cheer a couple of people up. It cheered me up."

The video, shot against the soaring Mediterranean backdrop of the Amalfi Coast, is more Styles-centric than his previous hit.

Instead of being surrounded by his Watermelon Sugar entourage of bikini-clad women, in one moment he’s playing around with his shirt off, the next he’s looking pensively into the sunset, singing: “I don’t want to be alone.”

Within an hour the video had been watched more than 450,000 times on YouTube.
