Jessie Ware tells girls: aim high

Sky’s the limit: Jessie Ware giving advice on the London Eye today
11 October 2013

Hundreds of schoolgirls were today given careers advice high on the London Eye at a “speed mentoring” session by women.

Mentors, including singer Jessie Ware, comedian and writer Jenny Eclair and presenter Cherry Healey spent 15 minutes with three girls at a time to give them tips on how to realise their dreams.

Around 200 girls from London schools attended the session organised by the Southbank Centre to mark the International Day of the Girl and as part of its annual Women of the World festival.

Among those invited to the event were five girls from Gumley House Convent School, an academy school in Isleworth.

Ware, 28, who grew up in south London, said: “It’s so positive. I think it’s important for women to look out for women.

“There were some great women who gave me advice, why not celebrate being a woman and being a girl?”
