Actress Kim Cattrall has criticised the movie industry for failing to show naked older women on screen.
The Sex And The City star, 56, said mature female characters “get covered up, we disappear ... because we are no longer young and beautiful and sexually desirable. That’s such a shame, because everywhere else in the world, they prop older women up on statues and podiums saying, ‘Not only is this a woman who is beautiful, but she has had life experience too’.
“Apart from Judi Dench [who was 70] in Notes On A Scandal, I don’t think I have seen a woman of that age naked in a film.” Liverpool-born Cattrall, now in Sweet Bird Of Youth at The Old Vic, was speaking to The Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine.
