Italian brand Pirelli today launched its latest calendar - featuring its first plus-size model.

Candice Huffine is among the 12 models to appear in the 2015 Pirelli calendar, launched in Milan this morning.

The American model, who has starred in campaigns for magazines including Vogue, is a size 16.

Huffine, who posed as Miss April, said: “My character was a vixen. She is sexy and vampy at the same time.”

The creators of the Calendar Girls 2015 edition, which also features Natalia Vodianova, Briton Karen Elson and Gigi Hadid, said they wanted it to celebrate the “sensuality” and “beauty” of the women featured.

It was shot over five days by noted American photographer Steven Meisel, with styling by Carine Roitfeld, the international fashion director of Harper’s Bazaar. They described the experience of working on their first calendar for the tyre company as “unique”.

Make-up was done by British artist Pat McGrath, with hair by Guido.

Meisel, who has previously worked with brands such as Prada, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton, said he aimed to “create 12 posters in which women, in all their sensuality, are the protagonists of 12 very different images”.

A collection of behind-the-scenes shots by photographer Marc Regas has also been released.

At the launch in Milan, Isabeli Fontana, 31, from Brazil, who has featured in a record six Pirelli Calendars, said: “It is always an honour to be a part of this calendar as, in the images, they capture someone inside of you.”

At 19, Gigi Hadid is the youngest model in the calendar and appears as Miss November.

The model, who stars in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alongside her mother Yolanda Foster, said: “It feels amazing and so cool to be a part of the Pirelli family.”

In September, Hadid appeared alongside Cara Delevingne in the Karl Lagerfeld Chanel protest show during Paris Fashion Week.

She said Delevingne was fun to work with, adding: “Cara is great. She is like my spirit animal. At the Chanel protest she was the one shouting and getting everyone into it.”

A star-studded gala ball for Pirelli was due to take place this evening at the HangarBicocca, hosted by actor and star of The Pianist Adrien Brody.
