A 15-year-old boy from east London will appear at court later this month charged with a terror offence.

Scotland Yard said the teenager was arrested at his home on June 16 following an investigation by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command.

He returned to police bail on Tuesday and was charged with encouraging the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism under Section One of the Terrorism Act 2006.

The boy is due to appear on bail at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, November 21.

Police said his families have been provided support by Prevent officers during the investigation.
