Armed police were sent to a home in south London tonight after a man was shot in the leg.

Police were called to an address in Byland Close, Abbey Wood, at 8.11pm on Thursday following reports of a shooting.

A Met spokesman said officers found a man, in his 50s, suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg.

He was taken to a hospital in central London where his condition is said to be serious but stable.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Transport for London said buses had been delayed and diverted in Finchale Road, near Byland Close, because of a ”police incident”.
