The boyfriend of murdered EastEnders actress Sian Blake has been detained by police in Ghana.

Detectives in the West African country arrested Arthur Simpson-Kent, who is wanted for the murder of his partner Sian Blake and their two children, Zachary, eight, and Amon, four.

The 48-year-old was captured in a town in the west of the country, where he is thought to have been hiding out since fleeing London following the death of Miss Blake and her sons.

The Daily Mirror reports that around 10 police officers Simpson-Kent after he was found hiding among rocks in a coastal town.

It is understood officers were tipped off by locals near the town of Takoradi.

Scotland Yard launched a murder investigation after their bodies were discovered in the garden of the family home in Erith, Kent.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Detectives have today, Saturday, January 9, been made aware of an arrest in Ghana.

"We are currently working alongside the Ghanaian authorities but are not in a position to discuss further at this time."

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been launched into Scotland Yard's handling of the case.

A missing person's investigation was started on December 16, after police visited the family home in Erith, south east London.

However, the murder investigation was not launched until almost three weeks later, when the bodies of Miss Blake and the two young boys were discovered in the back garden of the property.

Ms Blake's sister Ava said Simpson-Kent will have to "answer to God" if he was responsible for their deaths.

And she revealed her sibling had told their mother, Pansy, that she wanted to get out of her relationship "a long time ago".

It is understood concerns about domestic violence were raised to the NSPCC on December 16 by a relative of Miss Blake.

Ms Blake had motor neurone disease - a fatal, rapidly progressing illness which affects the brain and spinal cord - and was reportedly looking "very frail" before she vanished.
