A train passenger was attacked with a knuckleduster and left needing hospital treatment after he asked two men to wear face masks.

The 52-year-old victim was kicked as he got off a train at Barnes station in southwest London, before being badly beaten on the platform, police said.

British Transport Police said the man needed hospital treatment for a punctured lung and multiple broken ribs.

CCTV images have now been released to help find two men who are wanted for questioning over the attack on November 7.

Police said the victim had asked two fellow passengers to cover their faces with masks just before he was attacked.

It is mandatory to wear a mask while travelling on a train, unless you have a medical exemption.

BTP said it believes “the men in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation”.
