A dozen drug-dealing gang members who sold heroin and crack outside primary schools, churches and shops have been jailed.

The 11 men and one woman were caught after a surveillance operation. Police watched them openly dealing with customers, including children, in Leyton and Leytonstone.

They were arrested last July, pleaded guilty, and were sentenced over the past month at Snaresbrook crown court. Adrian Lewis, spokesman for the Met’s Trident Gang Crime Command, said: “These people, operating in three gangs, believed they were untouchable and carried out their trade with a brazen disregard for the community.”

Ringleader Robert Mido, 25, of Leytonstone, admitted Class-A drug dealing and was jailed for six years. Fergani Lubaki, 22, of Chingford, was given two-and-a-half years, and Stacey Thompson, 23, of Leytonstone, two years, nine months. Other sentences ranged from jail to community work.
