Police have released a CCTV image showing the moment a burglary suspect was snapped trying to disconnect a security camera.

The surprised man was photographed peering over his sunglasses in the communal area of a block of flats in south London.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "On 2 June at around 1.30pm, a suspect broke into the communal porch area of flats in Selhurst Road, Croydon.

"He rummaged through mail and attempted to disconnect CCTV cameras before being disturbed and leaving."

Police said there have been no arrests.
