A cyclist has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash with a Land Rover, police said.

The rider, in his 40s, was taken to hospital following the incident at about 6.15pm on Saturday.

Kent Police said the crash, on Crafford Street in Dover, happened shortly after another incident involving the same car and bicycle on Folkestone Road.

A spokesman said: "A white Land Rover and a pedal cycle collided. The cyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

"The Land Rover did not stop at the scene and police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the collision in Crafford Street, or an incident that occurred shortly before between the same two vehicles in Folkestone Road."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 01843 222289, quoting crime report ZY/982/16, or call 101.
