A pensioner found dead in her home had her hands and feet tied, neighbours said today.

The woman, 76, named locally as Pam Wheeler, was found by her next-door neighbour in Thamesmead on Sunday.

She was described as a “lovely lady” who lived alone after her husband died several years ago.

She is understood to have suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.

Residents said Mrs Wheeler may have been targeted because she was vulnerable.

Toby McClay, 20, said: “She had her arms and legs tied up, like someone had gone in there to do a burglary.”

Scotland Yard refused to confirm the claims.
