A fashion designer who claims she was raped by the boyfriend of the late singer Amy Winehouse was “perfectly able to walk” when she left a club with him, a court heard today
The woman told jurors at Southwark crown court she was so drunk she was unable to stand and had to grab hold of the bar to prop herself up on a night out last December 30.
But CCTV footage of her leaving the Jet Black club in Soho shows her walking down the street with Reg Traviss’s arm around her before they get into a cab. She claims she woke up in the 35-year-old film director’s Marylebone flat to find him having sex with her.
Footage taken in Jet Black showed the woman walking out of a lavatory at 3am. The jury was then shown video of her leaving the club at 3.42am with Traviss, apparently waving and chatting to bouncers.
Ian Winter QC, representing Traviss, asked her: “Do you agree you are perfectly able to walk, not in a state such that a black taxi driver wouldn’t take you?” The woman said she did not remember getting into a taxi and said: “What I remember is being upstairs in the bar holding onto the bar because I couldn’t stand.”
Mr Winter said her account was “not true” but she replied: “It is true. I would not lie about it. This is my memory.”
Traviss denies two counts of rape and claims the sex was consensual.
