A 14-year-old boy has been stabbed in Edgware - the capital's third teenage knife crime casualty in just four days.

Police have shut Watling Avenue in Burnt Oak, Edgware, while they investigate the attack, which happened at about 2pm.

It is understood the attack happened during a fight between two groups of people.

London Ambulance Service treated the boy for a stab wound and took him to a north London hospital, Scotland Yard said. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

It comes less than 24 hours after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed "repeatedly" in Hounslow, west London, last night, and follows a fatal machete attack on Stefan Appleton, 18, in Islington on Wednesday.

Another boy, also 16, has been arrested in connection with Friday's assault, which happened at about 7pm in Water Mill Way, while police continue to appeal for information about Wednesday's tragedy.

Anyone who saw today's stabbing is asked to call Barnet Police on 101.
