This picture shows the aftermath of a crash which saw a car plough into a house in north London before the driver fled.

A black BMW left the road and smashed into a house in Burnt Farm Ride, Enfield, shortly before 7am this morning.

Police said the occupants of the car had already left the scene of the collision when officers arrived.

The crash left a gaping hole in one wall of the house and a low part of its roof hanging off with rubble strewn across the ground below.

Another image, tweeted by Enfield police, shows the smashed-up car with a cracked windscreen and crumpled bonnet.

A spokeswoman for the Met said: “Officers attended and found that the people who were in the vehicle had already left the scene.

"No-one has been reported injured.

"No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoing."
