Two people have been arrested over the shooting of a man whose body was discovered in Ikea bags at an east London beauty spot.

A 40-year-old man was this evening being held at an east London police station on suspicion of murder, while a 22-year-old man was arrested and bailed yesterday.

The remains of 53-year-old Hidir Aksakal were found in blue plastic sacks near Hollow Ponds in Leytonstone on September 9. He had been partially buried.

Police said he was nicknamed “Boxer Cetin” and had lived in Margate. The Turkish national had once stood trial at the Old Bailey for a gangland murder, but was cleared.

Father-of-two Mr Aksakal had last been seen on August 17 in Green Lanes, Haringey and police are still trying to piece together his last movements.

Anyone who can help with the investigation is asked to call officers on 020 8345 3715 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
