A 32-year-old man has been charged with raping and stabbing a teenage girl who was dragged from a Pizza Hut restaurant.

The 17-year-old was allegedly assaulted on Friday night in Epsom.

Police say she was dragged from the Waterloo Road takeaway at around 10.30pm and found 20 minutes later in a nearby park suffering from a stab wound to her stomach.

The teenager was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting where she is in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

Costica Voedes, of Epsom High Street, has been charged with nine offences over the incident, including two counts of rape, wounding with intent and false imprisonment.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at South East Surrey Magistrates' Court in Redhill tomorrow.
