A 25-year-old man has died after his motorbike collided with a van in Barnet, police said.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, on Falloden Way, at around 4pm on Wednesday following reports of the collision.

About thirty minutes later, the motorcyclist died at the scene.

Officers have said they are in the process of tracing the young man’s next of kin, and are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

The driver of the van, police said, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of death by careless driving and also for failing to appear at court for an unrelated matter.

Police said the man is currently in custody at a north London Police station.

Anyone who may have information about the fatal crash has been asked to call the Serious Collision Incident Unit at Alperton on 0208 991 9555.
