Floral tributes from friends and neighbours have begun to pile up outside the house in Claygate where the al-Hilli family lived.

Families have been visiting the home throughout the day to leave floral tributes outside the front of the house. Along with bouquets of flowers, teddy bears had been left and a Mr Men 'Little Miss Trouble' book.

Amanda Lamble and daughter Isabella handed over a large bunch of flowers to police officers guarding the house.

Ms Lamble said: "The children are the same age as my two daughters, we often drive down to Spain and we know Annecy and we felt that we needed to pay our respects."

She added: "It was clearly a massive shock, you don't expect something like this to happen. All families and children have them in their thoughts and parents are trying to help children understand what has happened."
