Four women were attacked in the space of just a few minutes during a bizarre series of assaults in Stoke Newington.

Police say the attacks, along with an assault on a dog, all took place near Stoke Newington Church Street yesterday afternoon.

A friend of the fourth and final victim, who asked not to be named, said she was punched twice in the face near a bus stop in Albion Road at around 3pm and fell to the floor.

Three people then came to her aid, with one chasing the attacker into an estate near Church Walk where he managed to escape.

Earlier, at around 2.50pm, the same man knocked a phone from a woman’s hand before stomping on the device.

Further down Stoke Newington Church Street, he then punched a woman in the shoulder.

At the junction with Woodlea Road, a woman walking with two children was booted in the leg before the man attacked a dog being walked by its owner.

The man is described as black, around 5ft 9ins tall and clad in a dark beanie hat, dark waist-length jacket, beige trousers and white trainers.

Anyone with information can call Hackney police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
