Detectives have asked people to come forward with footage to help find the killer of a young man shot dead outside a Fulham restaurant.

Salim Coulter, 24, of White City, was gunned down in Walham Grove last Monday as he got into a car after eating at Jerky's Jamaican restaurant.

Police believe the gunman laid in wait for Mr Coulter before he was killed.

Scotland Yard have now made a fresh appeal for information hours before detectives return to the crime scene, asking drivers and cyclists to share any footage taken on the night of the shooting.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, said: "Please think back to last Monday night, and if you were out and saw something or heard something, no matter how minor you think it might be, then please get in touch with us. Your information could be a really important piece of our jigsaw.

"Also, I am directly appealing to any cyclists or drivers who were in Walham Grove or North End Road from 8.30pm who may have captured images on their own cameras.

“This material could have captured something that may prove significant, so please get in touch with us and share your footage.

"At this stage in our investigation we are keeping an open mind regarding motive and will be trying to establish the victim's precise movements in the day running up to his murder.

"This is a low crime area. Salim's murder has shocked the local community. There is a strong neighbourly spirit in the area and I would encourage the very vigilant local community to contact police with anything that they saw during and after the attack."

The mother of Mr Coulter, a trainee gas engineer, said his life was “on track” in an emotional tribute given days after his death.

She told the Standard: “I am devastated and in disbelief that this has happened. When the police came and told me I was shattered.

“I had been with my son earlier on the day he died. We went shopping on Uxbridge Road, just a normal day like any other. Later he said he was going out with a good friend.

“There was nothing to indicate any problems and nothing out of the ordinary. When he was a teenager he got into a bit of trouble, but he had put all that behind him. He was training to be a gas engineer and studied hard, his life was on track.”

So far no arrests have been made.

A post-mortem examination held at Uxbridge Mortuary gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.
