An 11-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after being hit by a car in south-east London.

The child was rushed to hospital by air ambulance after the collision in Eltham at around 4.42pm.

Met Police officers attended the scene, in Westmount Road at the junction with Elibank Road, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A statement from Scotland Yard said: “A car is reported to have been in a collision with an 11-year-old female.

“She has been conveyed by London's Air Ambulance to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition. Her next of kin are aware.”

The driver of the car has not been arrested and is said to be helping police with enquiries into the incident.

The Met is appealing for witnesses.
